PROJECT 5: Digital Painting

Image
DIGITAL PAINTING PROJECT: For this project I had a difficult time trying to come up with an idea that I felt would mean something to me. I decided to create a work that represents this idea of a “perfect life”, otherwise seen as consumerism. The core idea of this project was creating a representation of a “perfect influencer lifestyle”. I was wanting to include ideas of Instagram perfection, luxury brands and beauty products.   The step-by-step plan that I created for myself is the following: STEP 1: Collecting Images ·        Main subject: o    Instagram “model” o    “Perfect skin” ·        Influencer Lifestyle: o    Coffee aesthetic o    Clean girl ·        Extra Objects: o    Skin care o    Makeup o    Perfumes o    Phones o    Jewelry o    Fake nails STEP 2: Building a base composition ...

PROJECT 4: Self-Portrait/Photobooks

Image
For this project, I went to the library on a few occasions to find example photobooks to use as inspiration for my own photobooks. These books included:  ·        Gregory Crewdson 1985-2005 ·        It’s beautiful here, isn’t it… LUIGI ·        American Photography 35 ·        American Photography 31 ·        American Photography 28 Some of the different things I liked about the photos in each of these books include: ·        The layout ·        Form and image ·        Different ways of representing yourself through portraits ·        Thinking about why some of these photos were taken and the story behind each photo ·        How light and shadow work together and how they affect the phot...

PROJECT 3: PART 1: Video Shorts:  LIGHT:  PROJECT 3: "Light" COLOR:  PROJECT 3: "Color" FRAME:  PROJECT 3: "Frame" CAMERA SHOTS + MOVEMENT:  PROJECT 3: "Camera Shots + Movements" PART 2: Thematic Video: Link to video:  Thematic Video For my thematic video portion of project 3, I decided to do something that holds good memories. My 2-and-a-half-year-old niece loves the Disney movie Frozen. One of her favourite characters is Olaf! A couple of weeks ago her and her family were visiting, and she and I watched Frozen, and while we did, she asked if I could draw Olaf. I happily did so, and she absolutely loved it! For the remainder of their visit, I received many requests from my niece asking me to draw more Olafs. I ended up drawing many, many Olafs. Happy Olafs, sad Olafs, anything she asked for. So, while trying to come up with an idea for the thematic video portion of this project, I decided to do a slowed time-lapse video of me drawing, Olaf! Draw...

PROJECT 2:  FOLEY  This was a fun group project that we did! We used found objects to recreate sounds, which we overlapped with a funny cat video that we found on YouTube! We muted the original cat video so we would not hear the video's sounds. This helped us use our imaginations to create sounds that fit well with the images in the video. We had lots of different objects. Some of these objects that we used include a pot, pop cans and bottles, hair brushes, books, lip gloss, a case of earrings, and lots more! The items I used were a glass lip gloss, a small case of earrings, a book, and my hairbrush. I have attached an image of my materials to this post. I found this project to be quite experimental and interesting. It was something I had never done before, and I would be interested in potentially trying to do this again in the future.

ASSIGNMENT 1: PLANNING FOR PROJECT 1: PLANNING: Screenshot → Screenshot → Screenshot (Digital Image Project) Concept – IDEA: ·         Start with one high-quality image (my own photo or a found image) ·         Take a screenshot of it, then screenshot that screenshot, repeating the process 10–20 times ·         Each time, the image loses clarity and detail o    I screenshotted my image 20 times and used the first 15 images Why this fits “The Poor Image”: ·         Steyerl talks about how images lose quality as they circulate but how they can gain mobility and accessibility. ·         My work shows how copying and original image several times destroys resolution while creating a new visual language. Meaning Shift: ·         The image stops being ab...
